My studio workflow is centred on the musicians. In particular, this applies to musicians I am recording for film, which has very tight deadlines.
Ideally, the musicians get the score at least a week before recording, Then I spend at least an hour (often more) in the studio before they arrive setting up the recording. Along with reference tracks, I prepare any mock tracks for them to accompany, if required. I want them to be able to walk in, play, then get out of there as fast as possible. It makes everything better, because they can then enjoy listening to their work on playback and they have time to add their own artistic input.
And then I back everything up to the cloud.
